The Immaculate Collection
Promotional Items
For the full narrative relating to 'The Immaculate Collection' please refer to the entry under the ALBUMS tab
The Immaculate Collection marks a rounding up of the Madonna's phenomenal '80's' period and it is not surprising that such a compilation was launched amid huge publicity. Accordingly, this release comes with more UK promotional items than any other album featured on this website.
As usual there is the LP with generic rectangular promotional rear sticker, along with a CD with generic round promotional sticker. The CD is of particular interest as it has two promotional stickers, one of which contains the lesser-seen contact numbers, and it is still sealed - with both stickers contained within the wrapper.
However, the rarest item is a promotional booklet issued in Ireland which also came with a demo cassette. The booklet contains information on 'The Artist and the Album' along with 'The Immaculate Campaign' which details the upcoming advertising onslaught. The booklet contains the UK catalogue numbers along with prices in £ and IR£, this being before Ireland converted to the Euro!
Not surprisingly there are also promotional posters, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase Madonna's visuality during the period the album covers. There are two versions of the poster - the medium size being widely distributed to record stores while the rarer, large version, was only distributed very selectively, possibly for bus-stop advertising.
There is also a plethora of promotional items including a cube, a banner, a giant head (a rather odd item, it has to be said) and a life-size standee. Interestingly this standee was also used to promote the Sex book.
Finally, for the UK, there are also two different promotional advertisements that appeared in the music media.
For once, the UK provides sufficient variety for the collector but those with an appetite for more can also look to the US press pack which consists of two promotional photos and a three-page biography. There are also five additional promotional photos specifically for the single 'Justify My Love'. All consist of stills from the video and can be seen in the 'Justify My Love' page within the PROMO tab.
