'Like A Virgin' appears to be the first 7" single to be issued with a promotional sticker on the rear sleeve. However, while the sleeve is of UK origin, the sticker may be of US origin.
There are white labels of both 7" and 12" in existence but alas not pictured here. However, what is pictured here is the first known counterstand to promote the 7" single. These early counterstands are incredibly rare and sold recently (2015) on EBay for £200 each. For the collector balking at such prices, a far more easy to source promotional item is the advert which can be picked up for a little as £5 or less. This is the first advert to have appeared in 'Smash Hits' and was used to promote the limited edition 12" with poster. However, please note the advert proclaims a 'full colour' poster which is incorrect as the poster itself is black and white. Perhaps a list minute cost cutting exercise by the record company?
