I'm Breathless
Promotional Items
For the full narrative relating to 'I'm Breathless' please refer to the entry under the ALBUMS tab
Promotional items for 'I'm Breathless' kick off with the usual promo LP with rear rectangular sticker. Again, not the most exciting of items and probably the most common of all these so-called promotional LPs as it appears regularly on Ebay and sells for as little as £5
Of far more interest are the promotional display items of which the most appealing is the shaped counter stand. It is one of the rarer stands and sells for £50+ although collectors should be careful to check the condition as this is also one of the most fragile - Madonna often appearing with a broken neck!
Other display items include a promotional poster and a cardboard strip banner which was used as part of general display along with additional empty LP sleeves. The display shown below also includes the Pioneer promo poster, many of which made it to the UK being visually appealing, although they are of Japanese origin. There are also two different UK adverts the second version strangely deviating from the standard colour scheme coming with an orange and purple combination.
Finally, the US press pack is one of the most attractive as it consists of six promotional photos and a five-page biography. As with many of the promotional photos some of these are rarer than others and it is quite unusual to find a press set for sale with all six. It is possible that the pack was not originally issued with six photos and some may have been issued in response to the global success of the single 'Vogue'. It is also interesting to note that all six photos showcase Madonna from her video rather than from her role in the film 'Dick Tracy'!
