Holiday
(1991 Release)
Promotional Items
For the full narrative of 'Holiday' (1991 Release) please refer to the entry under the SINGLES tab
Aside from the usual stickered 7" single, there are several collectable promotional items.
By far and away the rarest and most interesting item is a unique promo CD (SAM 800). At first glance it appears to be a standard CD single as it carries the same artwork as the other standard releases, but no CD single was issued for this release. Instead 'Holiday' was included as part of a 4-track EP 'The Holiday Collection' which came with its own artwork modelled on the style of the 'Immaculate Collection' album.
This is the first time a Madonna single has been issued in such a format in customised sleeve with Madonna's image and it can fetch upwards of £150 when it does appear for sale.
[CORRECTION - the valuation stated above would appear to be undervaluing this item which demonstrates that prices for these particularly rare items can go up and down markedly. Updates on current selling values for items such as this will be added periodically and as shown below where this item sold for £363 on an eBay auction!
As mentioned in the main narrative, the cassette version of the EP is surprisingly scarce but it appears to have been used as a promotional item too as a sealed copy pictured below comes with a promotional sticker.
'Holiday' is also unique in that it appears on no fewer than three in-store compilation CDs - numbered 5, 6 and 7 respectively.
Paper-based items include a counterstand display for the 7" single, a display flat and a promotional poster for the EP and the album.
