In addition to appearing as the backing track for 'Into The Groove' on the rarest white label 12" (see 'Into The Groove' for more information) 'Holiday' also appears on its own 12" white label promos. There are two versions and these are particularly interesting as they both came with press releases albeit the same press release just printed on different colour paper. The records themselves are different as the first has plain white labels while the second has a printed label with a slightly different 'X' catalogue number . Both press releases effusively describe Madonna as 'hotter than venus right now' but also refer to 'Holiday' as being 're-released for the THIRD time'. After some puzzlement as to whether these press releases related to the 1991 'third' release it would appear they refer to the new colour sleeve which would technically be a third release. Both of these are very scarce and again sell for around £100.
Until only recently, it appeared that the 1985 reissue of 'Holiday' was unique in having no paper-based promotional items - not even a promotional advert in any music press. However, around 2013 what appeared to be a very rare display flat for the 12" picture disc was offered for sale on Ebay. It garnered enormous interest and sold for a three figure sum. Unfortunately for the buyer, the seller had a large batch of this particular item. He claimed that these display flats were supposed to have been dispatched to various record shops to publicise the picture disc but due to the single being rush-released at such short notice they were not printed in time. Therefore the planned distribution was cancelled and they remained in storage until he purchased them as a job lot. Unfortunately, he proceeded to offer them on an almost continuous basis, initially for high prices but dropping the asking price as demand waned. The item eventually ended up with an asking price of just £5 which adds an ironic note to the 'While Stocks Last!' declaration on the display.
