DMC (Disco Mix Club) : DJ-only Promo LPs - 1987
Mirroring Madonna's continued dominance of the charts, DMC continued to use her music which appeared on six LPs and another 'Best Of'.
January - once again DMC kicked off the 'Guest Appearances' with two discs being released in January. The first, ‘Mixes 1’ contains another acclaimed exclusive remix of the current single: ‘Open Your Heart’ by Ben Liebrand. The track 'Open Your Heart' also appears on another track on the same disc as it is included in the 'Mix Out' mash-up by Mike Grey. This mash up also includes a remix of ‘Each Time You Break My Heart’ by Nick Kamen. Finally, a cover of what would be the next Madonna single, 'La Isla Bonita' by European artist Lucia is included within the 'Europe Is Calling' mash-up by Dakeyne resulting in this particular disc including no fewer than four tracks connected with Madonna.
The second January disc, 'Mixes 2', is one of the most interesting as it contains an exclusive multi-track remix. The ‘Madonna Megamix’ contains 11 tracks (see picture below for track listings) mixed by Dakeyne. Not surprisingly, this is one of the rare DMC disc although, as with the previous Madonna multi-track remix, the 'Megamix' is also included on a 'Best Of' album - see below.
February - ‘Mixes 2' contains another exclusive remix of the yet-to-be-released single ‘La Isla Bonita’ by Peter Slaghaus. It is also the last of rare DMC discs which can be quite a challenge to track down.
October - 'Mixes 2' includes the current Madonna single 'Causing A Commotion' on two separate remixes: 'L.A.'s Hot' mash-up by Les 'The Mixdoctor' Adams, which incorporates the 'Movie House Mix' version; and 'House of Dance' by Mike Grey.
December - once again DMC rounds off the year with two separate 'Mixes' discs. 'Mixes 1' contains a reminder of summer with ‘La Isla Bonita’ included in the 'Pop '87' mash-up by Bizzie Bee, while 'Mixes 2' includes ‘Who’s That Girl’ in a mammoth 'Hip Hop 87' mash-up with 'Jams layed by Chad Jackson'.
