DMC (Disco Mix Club) : DJ-only Promo LPs - 1984
The earliest UK recording to feature a guest appearance from Madonna is her debut on the Disco Mix Club (DMC) promo LP in October 1984.
DMC is a DJ remix service founded by Tony Prince which began as a radio show (Disco Mix Club Show) in 1981 on Radio Luxembourg in the UK. Prince helped popularise a new style of DJ mixes using the turntable as an instrument. DMC started operating as a remix service in 1983 producing exclusive remixes on cassettes. The vinyl format followed in July 1984. For ease of reference, all DMC discs are also grouped together in their own section within the 'Other' tab which is the final tab in this 'Guest' section.
This October disc includes a 'Madonna Goes To The Doctor' mash-up by Les Adams. However, do not be fooled by the title - this is not a Madonna-megamix! The remix kicks off with 'Holiday' before sequencing into nine other tracks by various artists. Nonetheless, this is one of the rarest of all DMC discs and has been offered for sale on specialist sites for over £100 but with patience can be picked up for much less as and when it appears on Ebay.
