Ciccone Youth - Into The Groovey
In September a more quirky release titled ‘Into The Groovy’ appeared by ‘Ciccone Youth’. The group, who formed in New York in 1986 as a side project of the alternative rock band Sonic Youth, included Steve Shelley, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo, Thurston Moore and Firehose member Mike Watt among its membership. The band only released this single in 12” format only, and a follow-up studio album (The Whitey Album – see below) during its career before disbanding in 1988. The single, which features Madonna on the cover and ‘loose’ cover versions of ‘Into The Groove’ and ‘Burning Up’, did not chart but can still be easily sourced from Ebay.
