Causing A Commotion
7" Single - Withdrawn / Bootleg stickered sleeve (without the 'Personality Poster')
This is the third item from a ubiquitous seller of curious items. It is another 'withdrawn' 7" which was allegedly pressed with the intention of being issued with a mini-poster but was rejected in favour of the 'badge' issue.
This item appears to be the most authentic as it has a professional-grade sticker with it's own unique catalogue number. It is the only one of the four items sold by this seller that included in Madonna Decade, albeit with a warning caveat. This is because stickers at this time were pressed on shiny paper whereas this one is on matt paper, similar to the better quality paper used on later pressings. It is notably similar in font and texture to the sticker used on the 7" zipper bag limited edition of 'Express Yourself' in 1989.
Three of these items have appeared for sale from the same seller. The first two were offered in quick succession - the second copy offered for sale eleven days after the first - and both fetched high prices as can be seen from the Popsike details given below. However a third copy was eventually offered at a later date which failed to sell, even with the low starting price of £35. As it has not been seen since, nor is it listed on Popsike, presumable it was either sold to a private buyer, or the seller withdrew it.
This item remains a curiosity and it is a pity that unlike the other 'withdrawn' 7" with posters that also originated from this same seller it does not come with a poster which may (or may not) have helped to add to its authenticity. Interestingly while this one has a sticker but no poster, it's counterparts with posters come with either a questionable sticker ('Open Your Heart'), or no sticker at all ('Holiday').
